Le lamba est exprim\u00e9 en watts par m\u00e8tre-kelvin (W\/mK) et plus il est faible, meilleure est la capacit\u00e9 isolante du mat\u00e9riau.<\/p>\n<p>Pour comprendre l&rsquo;importance du lamba dans l&rsquo;isolation thermique, il est n\u00e9cessaire d&rsquo;avoir une compr\u00e9hension basique de la fa\u00e7on dont la chaleur se d\u00e9place. La chaleur se propage de trois fa\u00e7ons : par conduction, par convection et par rayonnement.<\/p>\n<p>La conduction est le processus par lequel la chaleur se propage \u00e0 travers un mat\u00e9riau solide par le biais de collisions entre ses particules. Les mat\u00e9riaux conducteurs, tels que le m\u00e9tal, ont un lamba \u00e9lev\u00e9 car ils permettent \u00e0 la chaleur de se propager rapidement. En revanche, les mat\u00e9riaux isolants, tels que la laine de verre ou le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.la-maison-naturelle.com\/3057-polystyrene-pse-xps\" data-internallinksmanager029f6b8e52c=\"132\" title=\"polystyrene\">polystyr\u00e8ne expans\u00e9<\/a>, ont un lamba faible, car ils limitent le transfert de chaleur par conduction.<\/p>\n<p>La convection est le processus par lequel la chaleur est transf\u00e9r\u00e9e par le mouvement des fluides, tels que l&rsquo;air ou l&rsquo;eau. Le lamba est donc un param\u00e8tre cl\u00e9 dans le choix d&rsquo;un mat\u00e9riau isolant. Plus le lamba est faible, meilleure est l&rsquo;efficacit\u00e9 du mat\u00e9riau isolant.<\/p>\n<p>Il convient \u00e9galement de rappeler que le lamba est une mesure intrins\u00e8que du mat\u00e9riau isolant lui-m\u00eame, et ne prend pas en compte d&rsquo;autres facteurs tels que l&rsquo;\u00e9paisseur de l&rsquo;isolant, la pr\u00e9sence de ponts thermiques ou la qualit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;installation.
