Elle est souvent utilis\u00e9e pour \u00e9valuer l&rsquo;efficacit\u00e9 d&rsquo;un mat\u00e9riau isolant.<\/p>\n<p>La r\u00e9sistance thermique, symbolis\u00e9e par le symbole \u00ab\u00a0R\u00a0\u00bb et mesur\u00e9e en m\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s par Watt (m\u00b2\u00b7K\/W), est d\u00e9finie comme la diff\u00e9rence de temp\u00e9rature entre les deux c\u00f4t\u00e9s d&rsquo;un mat\u00e9riau divis\u00e9e par le flux de chaleur. En d&rsquo;autres termes, elle mesure la difficult\u00e9 qu&rsquo;a la chaleur \u00e0 traverser un mat\u00e9riau.<\/p>\n<p>Plus la valeur de la r\u00e9sistance thermique est \u00e9lev\u00e9e, plus le mat\u00e9riau est isolant. Cela signifie qu&rsquo;il est capable de conserver la chaleur \u00e0 l&rsquo;int\u00e9rieur d&rsquo;un espace et de maintenir une temp\u00e9rature confortable, m\u00eame lorsque la temp\u00e9rature ext\u00e9rieure est tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rente.<\/p>\n<p>La r\u00e9sistance thermique d&rsquo;un mat\u00e9riau d\u00e9pend de sa conductivit\u00e9 thermique et de son \u00e9paisseur. La conductivit\u00e9 thermique, symbolis\u00e9e par le symbole \u00ab\u00a0\u03bb\u00a0\u00bb et mesur\u00e9e en Watts par m\u00e8tre-Kelvin (W\/m\u00b7K), repr\u00e9sente la quantit\u00e9 de chaleur qui traverse un mat\u00e9riau d&rsquo;un m\u00e8tre d&rsquo;\u00e9paisseur, pour une diff\u00e9rence de temp\u00e9rature d&rsquo;un Kelvin.<\/p>\n<p>Pour calculer la r\u00e9sistance thermique, on divise l&rsquo;\u00e9paisseur du mat\u00e9riau par sa conductivit\u00e9 thermique. Par exemple, si un mat\u00e9riau a une \u00e9paisseur de 0,1 m\u00e8tre (ou 100 millim\u00e8tres) et une conductivit\u00e9 thermique de 0,1 W\/m\u00b7K, sa r\u00e9sistance thermique serait de 1 m\u00b2\u00b7K\/W.<\/p>\n<p>Il est important de noter que la r\u00e9sistance thermique est additive lorsque plusieurs couches de mat\u00e9riaux sont utilis\u00e9es. Par exemple, si une paroi est constitu\u00e9e de trois couches de mat\u00e9riaux avec des r\u00e9sistances thermiques respectives de 1 m\u00b2\u00b7K\/W, 2 m\u00b2\u00b7K\/W et 3 m\u00b2\u00b7K\/W, la r\u00e9sistance thermique totale de la paroi serait de 6 m\u00b2\u00b7K\/W.<\/p>\n<p>La r\u00e9sistance thermique est un concept crucial dans le domaine de l&rsquo;isolation thermique des b\u00e2timents. En utilisant des mat\u00e9riaux avec une r\u00e9sistance thermique \u00e9lev\u00e9e, on peut r\u00e9duire les pertes de chaleur dues \u00e0 la conduction thermique \u00e0 travers les murs, les planchers et les plafonds.
